Transfer and bond cost calculators for South African conveyancers

Your cost estimate, on your client's phone.

A calculator app in your firm's name, on your website and in both app stores. Clients work out transfer and bond costs on your own fees, and send the estimate on as a PDF on your letterhead.

The same estimate in the Ashgrove app on a phone: purchase price R1 850 000, cost estimate R73 478,50, Share PDF button.
  • From R3,500 a year, and no VAT is charged. Set up by Riaan, who built it.
  • A working copy in your branding, usually the same day, at no charge.

One question, answered everywhere.

Your client asks "how much will it cost?" Your app answers on your fees, wherever they ask. No "we'll come back to you on the costs".

  1. On your website

A short snippet puts the calculators on your own site. On phones it shows a button that opens them. They also live at your own address, yourfirm.law.fifo.systems.

The made-up Marula & Finch Attorneys website with the calculator tiles embedded under 'What will my transfer cost?'.
The same website on a phone: an 'Open Property Calculator' button.
    Marula & Finch's own website, on a computer and a phone. A made-up firm.
  2. At a show day

The agent who refers you opens your app and types the price. The buyer sees transfer duty, your fees and the Deeds Office costs before an offer is signed. In the store apps, the calculators and PDFs work without signal.

Transfer costs in the Ashgrove app: purchase price R1 850 000, the cost estimate of R73 478,50, and transfer duty from the SARS table.
Further down: fees (attorney fees, post and petties, document generation, FICA, electronic facilitation) and disbursements (Deeds Office registration, lodgement, searches, submitting transfer duty, Form LLL), with VAT on the lines that carry it.

  3. On WhatsApp

One tap sends the estimate as a PDF on your letterhead, with your details on it. Send someone your app's link and the preview shows your name and logo.

Share PDF, then the PDF your client sends on.
  4. In your inbox

Clients call, WhatsApp or email you straight from the calculator. On Plus they can also start an antenuptial contract, a will or a bridging application, and it reaches you by email.

The Ashgrove home screen scrolled down: the calculators, then the Apply online tiles for an antenuptial contract, a will and bridging finance.
The screen after sending: Ashgrove Attorneys will call you, and the date the platform deletes its copy.
Apply online sits under the calculators. Then the Sent screen.
  5. At your desk

One sign-in for your whole team, each with their own PIN: your fees, contact details, documents and applications. Staff see applications only if a partner allows it.

The firm dashboard on a computer: three applications, one marked still to collect (2), two marked viewed by a named person, and the firm's services underneath.

Eight calculators: transfer, bond and total costs, bond repayment, affordability, capital gains tax, return on investment and agent commission. You choose which ones your clients see.

The document your client keeps.

Every estimate is a PDF on your letterhead, set out like your invoice and with only what's on it: fees, disbursements and VAT in their own columns.

Rates updated within 5 business days of new figures

When transfer duty, Deeds Office fees or the fee guideline change, we update the defaults within 5 business days of the new figures being published. Your own fees stay as you set them. If you use your own fee table, we'll ask you to check it. The apps pick up the change the next time they open.

Left out on purpose: the bank's and the seller's costs
  • The bank's charges, such as the initiation fee. They aren't on your invoice.
  • The seller's costs, such as rates clearance.
  • Advice to haggle over fees.

Included in PlusYour app brings your clients to you: online applications and your document library.

Calculators come first. Underneath, clients can start three things online:

  • Antenuptial contracts. Couples fill in their details and upload their IDs. You call them, take the instruction and arrange signing before your notary. For firms with an admitted notary.
  • Wills. Clients set out their family, heirs and wishes. You take the instruction and draw the will. Nothing is signed online.
  • Bridging finance. Sellers and agents estimate an advance before transfer and apply to you.
  • Your document library. Upload PDFs such as FICA lists and guides from your dashboard. Clients find them in your app and on your website.

Each application reaches you by email, with a PDF summary and a list of what's still to collect. We delete it from our system 90 days after it's sent.

We never send you clients and never list firms. Your clients reach you through your own app.

Questions partners ask.

01We already have a calculator on our website.

Keep it if you like. This one is also your own app in both stores, works on your fees and your letterhead, and comes with a website calculator that matches it.

02What do you need from us?

For the working copy, your logo and your website. Before you go live, you check the fees we've set up, or send us your own fee table.

03What if a figure is wrong?

Every screen and PDF carries your disclaimer. You check the fees before you go live, and you can change them yourself at any time.

04Whose name is on the app?

Yours, with your icon. FIFO Solutions is listed as the publisher in the stores. The web app carries a small "Calculator by FIFO Solutions" line, and the calculator on your website a small "Powered by FIFO Law" line.

05Who decides what the app says?

You do. You approve every word before it goes live and can change it at any time.

06Do clients need to sign up?

No. There's no login and no account. It works on any phone or computer.

07Where is our clients' information kept?

Online applications, and the documents clients upload with them, are stored on Google Cloud in Johannesburg and deleted 90 days after they're sent. The calculators don't ask clients for any personal details. The privacy notice has the detail.

Want yours?

From Riaan Potas, Durbanville

The first thing a buyer asks a conveyancer is "how much will it cost?" The answer usually waits until someone retypes a fee table into an email. FIFO Law lets your clients, and the agents who refer them, answer it themselves: in your app, on your fees and on your letterhead.

Send me your logo and your website, and I'll set up a working copy in your branding, usually the same day, at no charge. Look at it on your own phone before you decide.
